El día de ayer las Águilas del América obtuvieron su título de liga número 15 en la era profesional(1965-1966,1970-1971,1975-1976,1983-1984,1984-1985,Prode1985,1987-1988,1988-1989,Verano2002,Clausura2005,Clausura2013,Apertura2018,Apertura 2023,Clausura 2024) venciendo a la Máquina Celeste de Cruz Azul con un global de 2 goles a 1 y dejar a los cementeros con 9 campeonatos en su haber.
El encuentro resulto favorable para los azules ya que como lo decían las estadísticas fueron el mejor visitante del torneo y en el Azteca no desentonaron y desplegaron un buen futbol durante los 90 minutos del decisivo enfrentamiento, pero para su desgracia no pudieron concretar ninguna de las jugadas claras de gol que tuvieron (1 de cabeza de Antuna, otro testarazo de Sepúlveda, una más del capitán Rivero y otra llegada de Rodrigo Huescas casi al final de cotejo, también es digno de mencionar que el arquero Luis Malagón fue determinante para este campeonato ya que apareció cuando su equipo lo requirió y mantuvo en cero su valla para consagrarse bicampeón en la Liga Mx.
Pero más allá de la victoria de las Águilas lo que resulta polémico, extraño e incluso apretado es el penal que se marcó a favor del vigente ganador y que fue el que marcó la diferencia en el partido ya que con ese gol de Henry Martin lograron el trofeo de la Liga Mx.
Es verdad que durante mayor parte de la temporada el cuadro amarillo fue el que mejor futbol desplego y así lo dice el superliderato obtenido, pero durante la liguilla el cuadro dirigido por el brasileño André Jardine bajo considerablemente su nivel no obstante así logro alcanzarle para alzarse con el gallardete número 15 en su historia.
El tema real de la final más que si era penal o no era penal es como lo mencionamos líneas arriba la cantidad de ocasiones que fallo el Cruz Azul porque el jugar bien también tiene que ver con ser contundente y efectivo frente al marco rival, de que le sirvió a los celestes dominar y controlar al contrincante si cuando tuvo para decidir el encuentro a su favor no logro hacerlo.
El equipo que durante la liguilla logro complicarle la existencia al campeón fueron los Tuzos del Pachuca que podría decirse en ese momento era el “coco” del América ya que previamente los había eliminado en semifinales de la Concachampions y en cuartos de final les estaba complicando las cosas de manera preocupante, pero al final logro acceder a las semifinales gracias a un gol en tiempo de compensación de Julián Quiñones.
Con el título obtenido las Águilas se convierten en el cuarto bicampeón en la historia de los torneos cortos (Apertura 2023 y Clausura 2024) antes lo habían logrado los Pumas de la UNAM en el 2004 (Clausura y Apertura) los Panzas Verdes de León en el Apertura 2013 y Clausura 2014 y los Rojinegros del Atlas en el Apertura 2021 y Clausura 2022).
